CP Research Corner: Self-Weighing

This study looked at young males and females, transitioning from adolescence to young adulthood, who endorsed self-weighing and examined the relationship between self-weighing and actual weight status along with other psychological and behavioral factors.  The study suggests that self-weighing in young people – particularly young women – is related to decrease in body satisfaction and self-esteem.  Further, self-weighing is associated with an increase in weight concern and depression in female participants.  In male participants, self-weighing was associated with increase in weight concern but not depression.Read more: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4644499/
