Why Outcomes Informed Care Matters

When I founded Columbus Park, my main priority was to assemble a team of clinicians that could deliver the best evidence-based treatments available to those struggling with eating disorders and their co-occurring conditions, such as depression and anxiety. It quickly became clear that the best way to achieve this goal was to prioritize Outcomes Informed Care.So what does that mean exactly? At Columbus Park, we believe in the power of constantly engaging in regular treatment reviews with our clients to ensure that we are offering the highest level of care possible. We don’t take it lightly that our clients and their families trust us during what can be an extremely vulnerable time in their lives. In turn, we are always challenging ourselves to be adaptable, responsive, and fully present during the treatment process.

How to Best Measure Outcomes

The most effective way for us to monitor outcomes is to routinely administer in-depth, yet easy to understand, questionnaires that invite patients to report on various stressors in their lives. This continuous feedback fosters rich connections and conversations, allowing for our clinicians to problem-solve and better tailor treatment plans. The good news is that this Outcomes Informed Care has been proven to work! The combination of systematically measuring progress and providing real-time feedback has been shown to consistently yield significant change. In fact, our data shows continued advancement as a practice with our outcomes growing stronger and stronger with time.

Advocating for Mental Health Care

Not only does tracking outcomes allow us to better treat patients, but the process also helps providers to advocate for human-based mental health care. The evidence-based treatment makes the case for increased funding and reimbursement rates, and demonstrates to policymakers what works, further empowering clinicians to do their jobs.At Columbus Park, we believe that everyone deserves Outcomes Informed Care. It’s our promise to continue tracking and reviewing patient progress in an effort to improve outcomes for everyone who entrusts us with their care.
