Zoe Cohen, LMSW
I received my Master’s Degree in Social work from Yeshiva University and graduated from the University of Delaware with my Bachelor of Science. I am currently licensed in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey.
I began my career in mental health by volunteering at Samaritans Suicide Prevention Hotline in Manhattan providing support for distressed callers. I gained clinical experience at Academics West & Therapy West providing individual and group therapy to adolescents suffering from diagnoses that include generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders, depression, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit disorder, and dissociative identity disorder. With an interest in building my expertise with eating disorders, I joined Monte Nido, NY where I provided therapy services to both adolescents and adults in their Partial Hospital and Intensive Outpatient Programs. In this setting, I facilitated DBT skills groups, open-process groups, and meal support sessions.
My post-graduate clinical work continued at Balance Eating Disorder Treatment Center in Manhattan as a primary therapist treating adults in individual and group therapy, using CBT, DBT, and ACT modalities. I've augmented my post-graduate training via NYU’s Advanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy training and becoming Radically Open-DBT certified as of October 2023. Also important for fleshing out my evidence-based treatment practice, I completed the Enhanced CBT training at Centre for Research on Eating Disorders at Oxford; CBT-E is a first line, empirically supported treatment modality for eating disorders.
I would describe my therapy style as validating, honest, and collaborative.
