Columbus Park, Manhattan’s comprehensive outpatient treatment center for adults, adolescents and children with eating disorders such as Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder, has announced that it will be a sponsor and participant in this year’s National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) Walk in Manhattan.
Columbus Park has formed a walking to team to raise funds for the event and has also signed on as one of the Walk’s official sponsors.
The Walk will take place on October 4th at 9 am, starting at Foley Square (111 Worth Street, New York, NY 10013). All proceeds will go towards supporting NEDA’s critical programs and services that work to eliminate eating disorders and improve prevention, treatment, and research.
“It’s an honor to support our friends and colleagues at NEDA,” said Columbus Park’s founder and Clinical Director, Melissa Gerson, LCSW. “As therapists who work with some of the over 30 million Americans who struggle with eating disorders we are intimately aware that eating disorder research continues to be under-funded and insurance coverage for treatment is inadequate. These are just a few of the reasons why we are not only participating in the NEDA Walk to raise funds but also sponsor this important event to promote awareness and support for those with eating disorders.”
